Furmint

Used to make both dry and dessert wines. In a sweet wine it is especially used for the creation of Ruster Ausbruch. The Furmint grape ripens late and has a soft skin which is easily damaged and thus allows the grape to dehydrate quickly. It is the main varietal used in the Tokaji wines of Hungary.
Furmint is also known as:
- Gelber Furmint (Austria)
- Mosler (Austria)
- Zapfner (Austria)
- Edler Weisser (Germany)
- Sipon (Yugoslavia)
